CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The No. 24 Illinois women's gymnastics team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to compete against No. 9 Alabama, No. 17 Minnesota and Talladega College on Friday, March 8, at 8 p.m. CT at the Coleman Coliseum.
Scouting Report
Alabama is coming off a 198.325-197.325 loss to No. 3 LSU, but the Crimson Tide have yet to score under a 196.975 this season. Alabama's best score of the season, a 198.075, ranks as the third highest in program history.
Minnesota is coming off a quad meet at Boise State where the Golden Gophers finished third (196.425) behind No. 25 Washington (197.200) and Boise State (196.825), with a win over UC Davis (195.425). Minnesota's team score ranked as its second-lowest of the season, behind the 196.300-194.900 win over Eastern Michigan.
Talladega College, an NCAA Division II program, is coming off a third place finish at a quad meet hosted by Bridgeport College. The Tornados posted their third-best score of the season (191.600) beating Rhode Island College (191.175), but falling to Brown (193.500) and host Bridgeport (195.025).
Ranked Illini
Illinois dropped a spot in the rankings, moving to No. 24 after scoring a 196.325 at the All-Ohio meet and a196.125 against Bowling Green.
