CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois women's gymnastics team will travel west to St. Louis, Mo., to compete in the 2024 GymQuarters Invitational against No. 6 Florida, No. 14 Missouri and Lindenwood on Friday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. CT at Family Arena.
The Illini will then come home to host the No. 15 Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. CT for Student Night.
Scouting Report
Florida has individual gymnasts ranked in almost every event: Leanne Wong seventh on vault, 12th on bars and sixth in all-around; Anya Pilgrim and Victoria Nguyen tied for ninth on vault; Ellie Lazzari eighth on bars; Pilgrim 18th on beam and 15th in all-around; and Sloane Blakely 22nd on beam.
Missouri has gymnasts ranked in three events: Hannah Horton 18th on vault, Jocelyn Moore 22nd on vault and fourth on floor, Amari Celestine 25th on vault and Mara Titarsolej 18th on bars.
Minnesota is highlighted by Mya Hooten, who is seventh on floor after earning two 10.0s on the apparatus this year. Hooten is also ranked 14th on vault. The Golden Gophers have one more notable athlete in their beam lineup with Brooklyn Rowray, who is first in the country on the apparatus. Her highest score was a 9.975 she scored at the Super 16 Gymnastic Championships, but she hasn't competed since.
Ranked Mia
Mia Takekawa has jumped up in the beam rankings from 17th last week to eighth after scoring a 9.950, which is a season-high mark.
