LINCOLN, Neb. – Fighting Illini women's gymnastics senior Abby Mueller earned a new career-high of 9.950 on floor in No. 22 Illinois 196.875-196.400 loss to Nebraska Saturday evening.

"It is not fun to lose a competition but  my team did not get nervous," head coach Nadalie Walsh said. "They were dialed in, held strong and went after what they came for, they just came up a little  short. I am proud of them and know they will continue to get better each week. I think this competition taught them a lot and I am eager to see them keep getting better!"

Mueller also won the floor title, her first of the 2024 season. This is the second loss for the Illini, now holding a 5-2 record.

Being the visiting team, the Illini started on bars. Amelia Knight earned the best score for Illinois with a 9.925. Mia Takekawa had the second-best score, earning a 9.850.

Moving onto vault, Arielle Ward scored a 9.850 with Ruthuja Nataraj taking a 9.825.

Floor was highlighted by Mueller's 9.950, but sophomore Alea Byrne also had a respectable score of 9.875.

Ending the night on beam, Takekawa took the highest Illinois score with a 9.900 with Knight taking a 9.825.
