CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Illinois swim and dive program gears up for the start of the 2022-23 season with a home opener against Indiana State on Saturday October 8th at 10 a.m. in the ARC Pool. The Illini are under a new regime with the hiring of Head Coach Jeana Kempe this past spring.
"This team has done a phenomenal job of coming into this season with an open mind," said Kempe. "As a new staff we are constantly asking them to get out of their comfort zone in training and setting new expectations for this program moving forward. Saturday is a great opportunity to execute all the things we have been focusing on the first six weeks of training in the pool and on the boards. We are all excited to compete and look forward to starting a new season."

Indiana State went 6-6 in the 2021-22 season. They placed third in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championship and in the middle of the pack at the CSCAA National Invitational.
Last Meet
The Fighting Illini traveled out to Terre Haute last year to open their 2021-22 campaign. The Illini cruised to a 184.5-98.5 victory. Molly Yetter made her debut in this meet and placed first in three events. Her and her teammates alike aim to start the season off right with a similar performance.
