
Men's Cross Country Finishes Ninth At NCAA Midwest Regional

Irwin Loud Earns Midwest All-Region honors.
STILLWATER, Okla. - Illinois men's cross country finished ninth with a team score of 270 at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Oklahoma State on Friday. Redshirt sophomore Irwin Loud crossed first for the Illini, placing 16th overall and timing 31:17.3 in the 10K regional race. The top-25 finish earned Loud the first Midwest All-Region accolade of his career.
"We are very proud of our men and believe in the foundation we are laying," said head coach Sarah Haveman. "Their future is bright. Irwin Loud was fabulous today. We could not be prouder of his first collegiate cross country season."
Loud's season culminated on Friday with earning Midwest All-Region honors. The Oak Park, Ill. native crossed first for the Illini at each meet the team contested this season.
Finishing second for the Illini was redshirt senior Zach Dale. Dale placed 33rd overall with a finish time of 35:45.1. Redshirt junior Jack LaLonde crossed next, finishing 59th overall and timing 32:13.0.
Sophomore Logan Hall came in next. He recorded a finish time of 32:38.0 and placed 79th. Freshman Jack Roberts timed 32:43.8 to finish 86th overall and fifth on the team in his first collegiate 10K. With the ninth-place team finish, the Illini improve two spots from their 11th place finish in 2018.
