CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The University of Illinois swimming and diving team begins its season welcoming Indiana State to the ARC Pool for senior day on Friday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. CT, before traveling to Evanston, Ill., Saturday, Oct. 12 to take on host Northwestern and UIC in a tri-dual meet at 11 a.m. CT. Seniors Kristin Anderson, Rebecca Corzine, Monica Guyett, Molly Hein, Jamie Kolar, Emily Martin, Fiona McDermott, Aby Olson and Morgan Young will be honored following the conclusion of Friday's meet.
In addition to senior day, Friday's meet will be host to the annual Splash Bash. The meet will be carnival themed and will feature carnival games and giveaways, such as posters, schedule cards, and cotton candy. Furthermore, we will give away free Pizza to the first 100 fans in attendance.
Indiana State
The Fighting Illini holds the all-time record of 2-1 against the Sycamores, as Friday's meet will mark only the fourth meeting between the two programs. In 2016, Illinois defeated Indiana State, 184-77, in Terre Haute, the first year of the Sycamore's swimming program. The Orange and Blue earned a 180-111 victory in Champaign in 2017. A year ago, the Illini came up short against the Sycamores, 148-135, in Terre Haute.
Northwestern / UIC
Northwestern holds an all-time record of 20-8 against Illinois, dating back to the programs first meeting during the 1975-76 season. The Wildcats have dominated the series recently, winning nine of the last 10 meetings between the two schools. In last year's meet the Orange and Blue fell to Northwestern, 190-105.
Saturday's meet will be the season opener for the Flames. The Fighting Illini defeated UIC, 198.5-100.5, at last year's quad meet, featuring Northwestern and University of Chicago.
