Illini Fall Short to No. 20 Iowa

IOWA CITY, IOWA - The University of Illinois Women's Gymnastics team fell short to the University of Iowa despite tying a season high team score on the balance beam (48.550). The Illini, however, did set a new season high score on the floor event with a 48.875.

Junior Jana Gallagher tied with Hawkeye Kelley Kello for the individual title on the balance beam (9.800). Freshman Ashley Williams tied with University of Iowa's Alexis Maday for third in the event (9.775), Gallagher also placed third on the floor (9.875). Williams also tied for second with Hawkeye Stephanie Gran on the vault (9.775). Sophomore Kara Kapernekas tied for second with Annie Rue of Iowa on the uneven bars (9.800).

The Illini return to Huff Hall for the final time of the 2002 campaign on Saturday. Senior Day Festivities begin at 2 PM as the women host Southeast Missouri State.
