The University of Illinois women's gymnastics team fell to Iowa by a slim margin of 196.15-196.675, but posted its highest score of the year in the process as the Illini closed out its home season at Huff Hall, Sat. night. With the loss, the Illini fell to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten.
On a night that the team honored five seniors, the veterans shined with season bests on many events. Senior Carissa Ericson registered a 9.90 on vault to take first place, while also recording the second-highest score in school history in the event. Senior Phaedra Dixon scored a 9.90 on uneven bars to win the event and sophomore Jana Gallagher took third in the all-around with a 39.225.
The Illini will head to California next week to battle Cal State-Fullerton on Sat., March 10 at 9 p.m. CT
