NORMAL, Ill. --- The Fighting Illini women's gymnastics squad traveled to Illinois State to take on the Redbirds in the second competition of the season. ISU won the meet 196.000-192.275. Illinois is 0-2 on the year.

Sophomore Jana Gallagher highlighted the Fighting Illini performances with a spectacular performance on the balance beam. She scored a career-high of 9.925 to win the individual title on that apparatus. Gallagher finished fourth in the all-around.

Illinois' Lisa Pellegrinetti, Carissa Ericson and Karen Hawley all scored 9.825 on their floor exercise routines to tie for third place. Ericson finished second in the vaulting competition with a score of 9.725. Gallagher and Michelle Buranich led the way for the Illini on the uneven bars. They each scored 9.775 to tie for third place.

The Illini travel to Michigan State Saturday, Jan. 27 for the first co-ed meet of the season.
