Fighting Illini Center for Excellence
The Fighting Illini Center for Excellence (FICE) is a 77,000 sq. ft one-stop support center for all 500 Fighting Illini student-athletes. FICE provides three floors of student support units covering academics, sports medicine, sports nutrition and strength & conditioning.
What Inside?
- Two weight rooms totally over 20,000 sq. ft of workout space
- 14,000 sq. ft of academic services support area
- 125 seat auditorium
- 3,500 sq. ft sports medicine treatment area
- 1,000 sq. ft sports nutrition refueling lounge
- 5,000 sq. ft multi-purpose space with glass windows looking onto Zuppke Field
The DIA broke ground on the facility in 1985 as part of a $7-million renovation project in the northeast tower area of Memorial Stadium to create an all-encompassing home for Fighting Illini Football. In 2019, the building was renovated and rebranded in order to support all Fighting Illini student-athletes.
